Home churches are communities of 15-35 people who desire to love and serve each other and the people around them. They’re at the heart of what God’s doing here at Collective.
Each home church meets once per week to study the Bible through leader-guided discussion. A couple of times per month, each home church has both men’s and women’s bible study groups, where we build deeper friendships as we learn more about God’s word and how to apply it in our lives.
But home church goes beyond scheduled meetings. Home church members meet regularly during the week to hang out with each other — to have dinner together, to study the Bible one-to-one, and to pray together.
We currently have a number of home churches in Belfast and Newtownabbey. To find one near you, email info@collectivebelfast.com.
While Collective is a network of home churches, our Central Teachings provide an opportunity for everyone to come together as one group twice per month, and hear Bible teaching from one of our leadership team.
At each Central Teaching (CT) there’s a 35-40 minute Bible teaching, followed by a brief Q&A, then some time to hang out. There’s reasonably OK coffee, and really good cake.
While adults are in CT, our team of trained children’s workers run Kids Collective for young people aged 0-15.
Central Teachings start at 11:15 every other Sunday morning at The Dot on Great Patrick Street, Belfast.
While the adults are at Central Teaching, our team of trained workers run Kids Collective for children aged 0-11.
Children up to P6 are divided into groups and over the course of their time in Kids Collective, they will be involved in a range of activities including singing, crafts, games and hearing stories from the Bible.
P7s go downstairs at The Dot to our youth area where they spend time gaming, playing board games, taking part in fun activities and learning about God through multi-media and short talks from their leaders.
We want every child who attends Kids Collective to have a great time and for parents and carers to know their children are in safe hands. If you have any questions please get in touch with kids@collectivebelfast.com. Our kids team leader, Alyson Beasant, will be more than happy to give you any information you need.
Collective Youth hosts a range of events including Bible studies, mentoring, and social activities for young people of secondary school and university age. Our goal is to equip young people with a good understanding of what the Bible teaches and how that affects their lives.
Please check the Collective calendar for the most up to date events including information on Blitz, which runs every other Friday night. Activities at Blitz range from bible studies to gaming. We also run a programme for youth during CT.
All our workers are trained and vetted. If you have any queries please contact youth@collectivebelfast.com, one of our youth team will get back to you.
We believe that God has a heart for all people, and that it’s the church’s job to bring his hope to the world. As part of this, we support two cross-cultural projects in Cambodia and in Southeast Asia.
Cambodia
Bill & Amy Barson and Chris & Amy Gesler, live in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, and run The Friendship School. The school provides hundreds of children with access to education, medical care and daily meals. Children at The Friendship School also have the opportunity to hear about the love God has for them through Bible classes run by the local school teachers.
We’re proud to have worked closely with The Friendship School for a number of years now, supporting projects that have had a hugely positive impact on local families and the surrounding communities, as well as on the school kids themselves.
South East Asia
John & Ruth live and work across Southeast Asia with their family. They work with indigenous leaders to holistically address issues of poverty in their communities, finding solutions to meet the unique needs of many families, groups and communities there. John & Ruth’s work includes everything from helping raise funds so that kids can attend school, to personal mentoring of leaders, to leading bible study groups.
Collective runs parent workshops based on common parenting struggles and questions. Each workshop involves a short talk, based on biblical principles, followed by discussion and chat with other parents over tea and coffee.
Workshops are free and take place at the Dot. Childcare may also be available at some workshops.
Keep an eye out here for our next workshop.
